Why Timeshares Are Being Stubborn With Payments During Coronavirus
Stubbornness has plenty of advantages and disadvantages. We sometimes confuse them with not giving up, how is one person so relentless but the other is stubborn? It’s something that we’ve all had to think about in our lives and no one really can say which is which. Well, whether you want to call it stubbornness or relentlessness, timeshare companies are being both when it comes to your money, especially during the coronavirus. While there are plenty of industries that have been hit hard by the pandemic, few have been hit as hard as timeshares. Current clients won’t pay and they can’t sell new spots. You’d almost feel bad for them if not for the fact that they still get government assistance like many other businesses and that they also still demand you to pay them for units you aren’t using.
Why would these resorts which have plenty of money risk upsetting loyal and happy tenants who have been paying on time for years and have nothing but great things to say about them? One of the main reasons is simple, desperation. Hotels, flights, car rentals and tickets to any attractions that are open right now are cheaper than they’ve been in years. People are just starting to travel but they are doing so at a fraction of the price it would cost them to travel before the coronavirus pandemic.
The pitch that timeshares have always had is that they provide a more affordable option to travelers where you can get a great place at a low price and you’re guaranteed to get it whenever you want. That’s not an issue right now and probably not for the remainder of the year so why would anyone want to add an expense like that and get locked into the contract.
As people are not signing up right now, these resorts have to get more aggressive in making sure their current customers are still on board and paying. They can’t accept the coronavirus as an excuse because they need you to keep paying and they will be very stubborn with that.
