Is Florida one of your favorite travel destinations? Well in
2020 you may be paying a bit more for that. Why? More and more people are
moving to the state which does not have a state tax, in part because of the
amount of revenue it receives from tourism. With air bnb’s becoming more and
more popular, flights easier to book and so forth, people are turning week-long
vacations into weekend trips to the sunshine state. That has led to an increase
in tourism but also an increase in the need to accommodate these guests to the
state.
Restaurants have to hire more staff, hotels have limited
space, so they have to charge more, theme parks and beach attendants need to
have their full-force ready to go to accommodate the demand that tourism brings
to the state. Even grocery store chains do well during these months because so
many people are visiting and need a quick and affordable meal. Tourism brings
plenty of cash to Florida, but it also brings a lot of work which is why many of
the businesses that are impacted by these out of state visitors are going to be
raising their costs in 2020.
So, what can you do about it?
There are some things you can do that will help you to keep
the costs down when you travel to the sunshine state. One of them is to make
sure that you are planning your vacations at times when the state is less busy.
For example, if your plan is to hit the beach, summer might be the best time as
hotels are usually less crowded and you can find better deals. However, if you
are interested in theme parks instead, then try going on less obvious vacation
times of the year.
The beginning of the year is also a great time to lock in
some affordable deals as businesses offer memberships and rewards programs to
get their numbers up and avoid a decrease in sales following December. This is
where you can try and take advantage of a few of these promotions and save big.
