Scams and scam artists seem to be in abundant supply. Technology hasn’t slowed this down, if anything it’s allowed things to get even tougher on the average person. You now have to keep an eye out for anything that doesn’t seem right so that you do not fall into the trap. Some have been around for years and some are new. The important thing is to make sure that you always protect your information and don’t be afraid to ask for credible information from anyone who contacts you.
1. Robo calls
This is the top one because it’s actually the top complaint made to the government. Robo calls waste time and seem to come when you’re at your busiest. Thankfully, most cell phone providers are able to assist weed out some of these calls but sometimes still get through without being put into check.
2. Fake calls
Fake calls are different than robo calls because they involve a real person. One of the best lines is when someone calls you either to talk about settling your taxes or to tell you that you bought a software program two years ago and the company is going out of business so they want to refund your money for a third year but need your bank account information to do so.
3. Email from your boss
If you work for a decent sized company you have to double check who is sending you an email. Hackers can find the name of a company owner and send you an email under that name telling you to buy gift cards or something. During the hectic rush of the day you may not even notice.
Of course we would include timeshares in this as they have been around for decades and are stronger than ever. They trick you to take an interest with the promise of a free weekend or something else. If what they were offering was legit, why would they offer it for free?
5. Registering to vote
Because 2020 is an election year you can expect to see a lot of this. People will come up to you at the mall, to your home and ask for your personal information so that you can vote. Some of these people may be trying to trick you to get your personal information.
Keep a look out for these and other scams that may be coming your way this year. Always make sure you double check a company and their credentials before giving away your personal information.
PMG is not a resale, transfer, or donation company. We are consumer advocates—we help to negotiate the release of your timeshare contract obligation. We do not buy, sell, or rent your timeshare. Simply put, we help you to get out of your timeshare contract forever.
Usually less than 12 months, but it all depends on your situation. If your timeshare is free and clear with no mortgage, then the process may only take 3-9 months.
Speak to your advisor about the time, and what delays the resorts have put into place to prevent timeshare owners from departing their ownership. If you have a mortgage or past due maintenance fee, the process takes more time.
This is probably going to hurt, but whether you paid $5,000 or $50,000 for your timeshare, the IRS values all timeshares as worthless investments. In addition, that timeshare would have negative value due to the annual maintenance fee bill which compounds year after year. That is until PMG helps you cancel your timeshare.
Yes. Whether you bought your timeshare 20 days ago or 20 years ago, PMG has a solution for you and is here to help.
Yes! Permanently! GUARANTEED!
While we are able to recover money in rare cases, beware of any timeshare cancellation company that entices you with the promise of fund recovery. The truth is, timeshares are loath to give back the money they’ve already taken.
