Can all timeshares be bad? It’s hard to believe that an industry that generates billions of dollars a year doesn’t have some good about it. Believe it or not, there are some timeshare companies that are straight-forward about their properties, offer reasonable deals and do the right thing by their clients. They do not utilize sneaky sales tactics and they offer you real service. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s not easy to tell which ones are reliable and which ones are running scams.
Let’s Be Fair!
Good companies do
good work. They have customers who are happy with the service that’s provided,
and they charge a fair rate for that service. In order to identify if a
timeshare company is good or bad, you need to look for these things:
- Reviews: The
easiest way to know whether or not you can trust a company is to look online at
reviews. Are there other customers happy with their experience? Are people
comfortable with the deals they made, or do they regret signing them and are
struggling to find a way out?
- Information about
the company: When you search on Google for information about the timeshare
company are you seeing an experienced business that’s done work with hundreds
or thousands of customers over the years, or does it look like they have no
online presence? The less you find about these companies online, the less you
can trust them.
- Compare prices of
hotels and apartments in the area: The reason you are interested in making this
purchase or investment is because you are trying to save money for your family
vacations to your top vacation spot. The only reason this makes sense is if the
cost is lower than that of renting a hotel room or apartment for the weekend or
week you are visiting. If the price isn’t competitive then what’s the point?
- Tenant’s ability
to rent out their time: One of the appeals of these deals is that you can rent
or sell your time to someone who wants to have access to that area. How easy is
it for other tenants to do so? Are they able to find renters or are there a lot
of challenges?
If you are not
sure whether or not you should make a purchase, then it’s better to avoid it.
The deal will always be there in the future and you need to have more
information about the company and area than you usually get whenever you meet
with these salespeople face to face. Whatever methods they used to convince you
to give them your time, do not make a decision without first knowing exactly
who you are dealing with. Remember, this is one decision that cannot be made
quickly and the more time you spend researching these businesses, the happier
you are going to be with your decision.
